about

"Olfactory Road" is the second single off Psychiatric Metaphors new album "Surrealist Realities" out 4/22/22

lyrics

I could smell her perfume in the air,
I never envisioned bloodshot and muddy Midwestern mornings,
Strung-out, suicidal somewhere on the I-80 corridor,
Her perfume lingers as nostalgia floods the last of my drowning senses.

Gas station meditation,
An icy road ahead,
Chain gang on the county line,
I remember what she said.

Funeral cars,
Cadillac baby,
Silver surfer diners in the wintertime.

And it's all just a memory now,
No one remembers when we were around
And it's all just a memory now,
No one remembers when we were around

Metal on metal,
A violent meeting of man and machine.
Separation of life and limb,
Time moves on with or without me.

And it's all just a memory now,
No one remembers when we were around
And it's all just a memory now,
No one remembers when we were around

I watched as the sun settled gently on the Western horizon,
A blazing beauty only able to survive separate from the human condition.
And I smiled,
I smiled as the summer wind drifted her perfume in my direction.
